| Union of Journalists, Tajikistan (UJT) The Union of Journalists of Tajikistan was founded in 1959. Aminjon Khojibayev (Shukuhi) was the first Chairman of UJT. More than two thousand media professionals are currently within the Union’s ranks. On 11 June 2006, the UJT Congress elected Akbarali Sattorov a new Chairman of UJT. UJT’s Mission: Protection of freedoms, rights, professional interests, honor and dignity of journalists. Development of media education, upgrading and improvement of professional skills of Tajik journalists. Facilitation in professional and creative activities of Tajik journalists ensuring freedom of speech in Tajikistan.
